About Rachel

I moved to Decorah and Winneshiek County in 1998 to take a position with Luther College as the College Archivist.

In the time that I have lived here I have been active with many different organizations.  Those have included:

  • City of Decorah, City Council Member at Large, 2009 - present.
  • City of Decorah, Planning and Zoning Commission, 2004–2009; Chair 2006–2009.
  • Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity, Board Member, 2004–2010; President 2005–2006.
  • Aase Haugen Homes, Board Member, 2005–2009.
  • First Lutheran Church, Church Council, 2000–2003. President, 2003.



State of Iowa Service:
  • Iowa State Historical Records Advisory Board, Board Member, 2007–present. (Appointed by Governor Chet Culver)
  • Iowa Conservation and Preservation Consortium, Board Member. 2004–2006.
